Party Overload!

This weekend was crazy busy with wedding showers but thankfully we did survive!  (This is my way of preparing you for another picture overloaded post so beware!)  We had 4 (yes 4!) showers to attend this weekend and we made all but one.
We kicked off the party weekend on Friday night for Nick and Megan's Gift Card shower!

The happy couple!
Yours truly, the bride to be, Mere, Phoenix, Angela and of course Romeo!
Cutest couple ever!
All the ladies attempting to play P&A...didn't work out too well thanks to the spiked lemonade! :)

Saturday we unfortunately missed one of the showers :( but had 2 more to attend that night.  The first one was an engagement party for Stefan and Jessie...sadly I forgot to take any pictures at all.
We stayed there for a little while and then headed over to another engagement party for our dear friends Haley and Kevin!
Their party was an Auburn/Alabama themed party where everyone wore their favorite team colors! It was so great to see them and hang out since they don't live in Birmignham.  They are without a doubt one of the sweetest couples in the entire world and I couldn't be happier for them!  They are a  perfect match! :)

Me with the beautiful bride to be!

Someone forgot to tell Jordan she was wearing the wrong colors! J/k-love you girl!

Thank you so much for having us! We love you both! :)
Overall it was a great weekend and we feel so honored to be able to be apart of this special time in our friends lives!

Hope everyone has a great week....looking forward to college football this weekend! :)

"Way down yonder on the ...Cahaba!"

As if you couldn't tell, I am trying to catch up on my blogging.  I hate to blog without pictures and I have had a few issues with getting my pics uploaded...everything is fine now though! On we go...

So anyways, this past Saturday (the 21st) a big group of our friends took a trip tubing down the Cahaba River.  This is the 3rd year that we have done this and I think is pretty much a tradition now.  You pay $10 for a tube for yourself and $5 for your coolers tube...and you float.all.day.long!  It is so relaxing and fun and def something I never saw myself doing.  (I don't make it a habit to get into a body of water that I can't see the bottom of and I think this is the ONLY exception to the rule!)

I am going to go ahead and apologize ahead of time for the major picture overload....I got a little excited about using my Pops waterproof digital camera and took full advantage! Thanks Pop!

Just getting started...

Ashley, yours truly and Phoenix-my shot gun parnters for the day!
After the first shot gun...
Just for you Phoenix...
Our second rest stop after conquering the "rapid of death" (you can kind of see it behind us-not really but we all always look forward to it every trip)
The hubs and OJ doing what they do best...

The Beer Tree
Me and Megan-so proud of her-she was not super excited about this trip, but so glad that she came!
These next few were on taken on our last stop at the end of a very long day (with alcohol if you couldn't tell)... :)

All the boys
And the ladies
At the end of the trip, there is this ridiculously huge rock (well it is for me anyways since I am scared of heights) that either very brave or very drunk people tend to jump off of-we had a combination of the 2!
You can see The hubs, Burton, Ang and Phoenix climbing to the top...
Poor Phoenix had a little bit too much angle on her toothpick and bless her heart is suffering now-hope your bruises get better soon! :)
And yes this is my brilliant hubby doing a Gainer from the very very top...so proud!
The whole gang!
We had so much fun and I am so glad that we have started making this a tradition every year! Thanks to everyone who came and made it so much fun! Love you all!

"Chow Down Around Town"-26

Living in Birmingham, there have always been so many restaurants that I would love to experience and haven't for whatever reason whethere it be price, location, convenience, etc.  So a few of our girlfriends came up with the idea that all of our girlfriends as a group would choose one place a month for us to all go checkout after work one day. This way we would be able to splurge a little bit if it is only once a month and hopefully catch some good specials!

This past Wednesday (the 18th-sorry I'm a little behind on my blogging) we chose to to go a place called 26 located in Birmingham's Southside. This place was one of those that I have never been to b/c I thought that we couldn't afford anything on the menu, but they have an amazing Happy Hour with $2 and $6 drinks and appetizers that we all took advantage of!

The whole gang (Erica, yours truly, Mere, Ashley, Angela, Maria, Jenn, Phoenix, Jess, Bethany, Melanie and Megan)

Me and Erica lovin' our tempura shrimp with applesauce....yum-o!

Me and my Mere sporting our turquoise!

After dinner a few of the girls decided to go to Blue Monkey for a little nightcap...without a doubt one of the best martinis I have ever have and a perfect ending to a great night!

My extra dirty martini-so cool that they give you another little shot glass chilling...you can tell that I don't make it out to too many martinis bars around here! :)

I am already looking forward to next months adventure!

My First Award!

I received my first blogger award from my dear friend Jess over at Jess Explains It all today!  I am so excited to have gotten my first award, especially since I have only been blogging a short amount of time!  Thanks Jess! :)

This is The Versatile Blogger award and it is awarded to those bloggers who are always showing new thoughts, ideas and expereinces.  This is for those who always keep it interesting and never boring...Congrats!
There are rules that come with receiving this award that you follow and then pass on to other bloggers you like and/or think are versatile:
-Link to the person that gave you this award
-Post 7 random facts about yourself
-Pass the award along to bloggers who you think are fantastic!
-Contact the bloggers you've picked and let them know that they have received the award

Here are my very random facts...

1)  I am a "what you see is what you get" kind of gal...no holding back here (you can ask my husband)

2)  I am the proud owner of a Great Dane who slobbers on pretty much everything we own and despite that fact I still love him to death and suprisingly it doesn't bother me as bad as I initially thought it would!

3)  I am a super control freak...I may come across as very easy-going most of the time but I truly like to be in full control of the most ridiculous of situations

4)  I am def a girly girl at heart but can also get down and dirty and go mud ridin' with the best of 'em!  (I miss those Auburn days in Tuskegee!)

5)  I secretly stress out WAY more than I should about my future children's names...I know this is ridiculous but I am terrified that I will pick a  name that they will grow to hate one day!

6)  I am a blog stalker in the worst kind of way!  I can't help it! :)

7)  I have a natural ability to remember the most random things...from what color shirt a girl wore at an event a year ago to all the words to songs after only hearing them a few times (this one is for you Jess) :)

I am sending this award to:
Amanda Pair
Jennifer Francis
Tara Gibson

This was fun and I hope it is not my last blog award!  Enjoy!

What will your future baby look like?

So I get these emails periodically from TheNest.com which is apparently the next step after you have gotten hitched.  (no honey I am not studying up) I ususally take a look see at what they have going on and today the title was..."What will your future baby look like?"  Now I don't know one girl that would not jump all over this..so I decided to try it.

Now, I am hoping that this was a joke on the websites behalf b/c I am almost positive that our little girl will NOT look like this...

Not that there is anything wrong with what this poor child looks like, but to be honest I don't think that this fair-skinned Irish girl is going to reproduce this child!Something about the hair and facial features that just doesn't seem to add up! :) Too Funny!

In conclusion, if you do decide to be curious about your future children's looks, please do NOT take this seriously and choke it up to good fun...otherwise you may have nightmares for the rest of your life! :)

Expect the Unexpected...

Well as you can tell from my title, this weekend did not go as I had it planned in my head, but it turned out just fine.  Friday, the hubs and I were supposed to go eat sushi with our friends Matt and Jess, but he got called into work and I was forced to crash Matt and Jess' sushi date night by myself!  It was very good and I am so glad they let me join them! Thanks guys! :) The hubs ended up working all weekend and even today, which is supposed to be his off day.  I know that he is beyond exhausted but the good thing about it is that he is making a LOT more money this week and that def helps us out! :)

Saturday, some of my girls (Jess, Mere, Maria and Bethany) were supposed to go to Pepper Place (it's a famers market here in Birmingham), eat some brunch and then head out to the pool.  Well, Mother Nature had her own plans and so we decided the skip the farmers market all together and go straight to brunch.

We went to Jacksons in SoHo for some tasty mimosas and I think we all stayed a little too long at the fair, if you know what I mean! :)

Afterwards, we made our way down the block a little ways to Momma G's for famous amazing nachos (doritos with melted pepper jack cheese adn jalapenos) and pitchers of beer! It really brought back memories from our AU days!  Oh the days...

The finish off our impromtu ladies pub crawl, we went to Feugo's for a margarita and some chips and salsa, cheese dip and guacamole!

Sunday I played Suzy home-maker and went grocery shopping, cleaned the house, did laundry and had dinner cooked when the hubs got home. :)  So like I said, it wasn't what we expected, but we made it through and it only leaves me looking more forward to this upcoming weekend now! :)
