Just another American Friday night!

I'm late posting these b/c I had to buy more space on my blog-they are not all the important but they are funny, so here we go.

Last Firday night, we went to Phoenix and Oj's house to grill out and relax...the next thing I know there are Thin Mint shots being taken (not by Yours Truly b/c they had chocolate in them and in case you didn't know, I'm allergic to chocolate) and a serious game of Just Dance 2 happening and it's 1 AM!
We had so much fun and like always proved once again that the girls dominate in any and all competitions against the boys!  But to their defense they were great sports about it! :)

Before Thin Mint shots...

After Thin Mint shots...

Aaaand past our bedtime...

Do Dah Day-2011!

Last Saturday was Do Dah Day here in Birmingham and it was a blast as always!
Me and Pop work one of the beer tents every year with some of his buddies and all the proceeds go to the humane societies and local shelters in the area.  This was Wrigley's second appearance at Do Dah Day and I think we wore him out! Also, our tent was able to raise $8,000...that's a lot of beer and a lot of puppies that will benefit!
Me and my Pop selling some beer!
This was one of many Great Danes that we met...he is only 6 months older than Wrigley and weighs 187 lbs!
My bro and Olive...it was her first Do Dah Day this year and she did awesome!
Me and moms
Beer Tent #3 crew!
Long day-waiting for daddy to go get the car

Wrigley's 2!

I can't believe my bubby is already 2 years old!
It seems like yesterday when our lives changed and we became parents for the first time!
Harassing my son for a picture...
My handsome man!
He has brought so much joy to our lives in these 2 short years and we can't imagine how our lives would be like without our little man!  He is so sweet, playful and fun and like I always say, it is unnatural how much we love this little guy!
Happy Birthday Wrigley!
We love you!

Friday Fragments

-I had a video that I am trying to post but apparently I'm having some technical difficulties.  I am so challenged when it comes to technical stuff...for example, as I was screwing around with the dang video thing, I just now stumbled across realized how to put my pictures side by side rather than having 52 pictures underneath each other on every post like I have been doing for the last year!

-I'm really excited about this weekend b/c it is Do Dah Day tomorrow!
Do Dah Day is a big festival in Birmingham that is soley based around raising money for the dogs mainly but all animals int he Birmingham area.  It is held at Cladwell and Rhodes park in Downtown Birmingham.  There are stages set up with live bands all day long, booths for all rescue organizations, pet supplies and of course, beer!  My and my Pop work the beer tent each year with some of his friends and ALL of the proceeds go to the puppies!  We have done this the last few years and it is so much fun not only to to be able to help out the puppies and kitties, but I get to hang with my Pop!  :0  I'll have a full post on it next week for sure!

-The hubs and are looking to go on a little getaway this summer but are seriously torn on where to go.  I have found a few places but we I just can't really make up our  my minds.  Anyone have any suggestions on a cool place to go without completely breaking the bank?

-The hubs and I are a little slow and just now got the "Words with Friends" app that everyone has been going gaga for, and I must admit, it is slightly addicting...also I'm pissed b/c right now he's beating me (but not for long)! :)  So if you wanna play with us, let me know!

-I'm really looking forward to this evenings activities-grilling out, hanging out and Round 2 of Just Dance 2 domination!  Look out ladies!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Chow Down Around Town-Do Di Yo's

Last night we finally were able to get together after a multitude of scheduling conflicts!
Last month we were scheuled to have our Chow Down the same day that the horrible tornadoes came through Alabama and we obviously cancelled and then we were scheduled to have it last week and that time wasn't good for a lot of people, and then we were supposed to have it tonight and that time wasn't good for a lot of people either, so finally here we are and it was so much fun! :)

We had a small group this month that met up at Do Di Yo's in Homewood for some Greek fare!
I had eaten here once before with the hubs and while the food was good, it was just kind of a weird experience the first time around-weird waiter, very Greek food and not "Americanized Greek" like I was expecting and the hubs burger was served medium rare!  Anyways, so I decided after MUCH influence from my girls to give it another shot!

I got the chicken and pasta salad with a yogurt based dressing and it was delish!
We also enjoyed some lovely wine and our nice little private corner (I personally think they put us back there so that we wouldn't disturb the rest of the guests!)

Mere, Yours Truly, Angela, Jess, and Erica
Guess who didn't realize it was Chow Down and didn't put any make up on this morning!
Reason #47 of why they put us in the corner away from everyone else-other reasons include playing/singing New Kids on the Block  to Mere's Ipod, having our stoned waiter Mark rapping Eminem to us, and deciding to have "just one more glass of wine" long after we closed out!

It was a lot of fun and I'm def glad that I gave it a second shot!

Hope everyone is havina a great week so far!

Living with Wrigley 5

When Wrigley eats his dinner, he likes to keep an eye on his toys to make sure they don't go anywhere...

Photo Shoot with Wrigley

I wanted to share some pics I took of our handsome boy last weekend since he hasn't been on this blog nearly enough lately!
Then I got brave and tried to get one of both of us,
Wrigley however had other ideas...

"oh look a bumble bee!"
"hhmm I love chapstick!"
aaannndd he's done with me!
 Maybe next time! :)

1st Annual Girl's Beach Trip-Destin, FL

Finally I'm back!
No, I have not fallen off the face of the earth nor have I forgotten that I have a blog that my 4 readers live for, it was simply a combination of laziness, Blogger screwing up and the underwhelming need to please my boss by actually doing some work as opposed to blogging, surfing the internet for vacation destinations and keeping up with the latest celebrity gossip,  after being off work for the last few days! <--longest run-on sentence ever!

So, last weekend we had our first annual girls beach trip with some of our nearest and dearest girlfriends (some who couldn't make it were dearly missed) in Destin, Fl.  We stayed at Maria's cousin's house in Baytown in San Destin which was unbelievable!

We arrived late Thursday night and hit the sack so that we would be well rested for beach first thing in the morning.  We spent pretty much the entire day at the beach roasting laying out.  The water was the most beautiful that I have ever seen it...crystal clear blue and the waves were not bad at all.  The water was still a bit chilly but you got used to it after a few minutes, although it was hard to find potty buddies to get in the water with me! :)
Angela, Jess, Mere, Yours Truly, Maria

Friday night we made our way to Baytowne Wharf for some grub...we ate at Poppy's Hammerheads.  The food was pretty good-Phoenix and I of course spilt a burger as always and were not disappointed at all...delish!  They had a band playing that was pretty good and the cutest little boy ever that was bustin' a move all night.

The whole gang-Yours truly aka "lobster face", Angela, Maria, Bethany, Mere, Phoenix, and Jess
"lobster face" and the mommies!
Hanging out at the diner that sold $1.50 beers...btw sodas were $2.00...hhmmm

After stuffing our faces, we went to Rum Runners, a dueling piano bar also in Baytowne Wharf, for some dancing.  We also went to another bar that I don't know the name of and basically shut down Baytowne that night like we were 21 again dancing the night away...Saturday hurt.   :)

Saturday was much more relaxed on the beach as we had a few girls not feeling the best in the world since we all came to the realization that we are all in fact 30 and not 21 like we thought that we were the previous evening! :)

Saturday night we went to the famous Red Bar for dinner.  The wait was pretty long, but I felt was well worth it for the food and atmosphere.  When the waiter came to take our order we were all talking and not really paying too much attention to him thinking that he was giving us the list for the specials only to realize that he was explaining the menu which consisted of 5 items!  Oops!

 Twinkies!
All dolled up!
We made a brave attempt at going back out like rockstars again like we had done Friday night, but sadly were in bed by 11:30!  We're so old and boring...one night out and we were dones-o!

We had an amazing trip and I am so excited to know that we will hopefully keep this tradition alive for years to come...just like the group of women that we met at Red Bar who were on their annual girls beach trip they have been taking for 15 years!
