Viva la Mexico-Part Uno

The reason for my absense this week from the blog world is because both my brain and body are still very much on Mexico time.  Not sure when or if I'll get it all back but I'm trying and it has taken me all week to regain what I have thus far! :)

Last week the hubs and I set sail plane for our 3rd anniversary gift to each other-Ocean Coral and Turquesa in Puerto Morelos, Mexico!  We left Monday morning from Atlanta and touched down in Cancun a few short hours later with a cold beer in our hands and our vacation officially beginning!
First I must say, the resort was absolutely gorgeous! I loved everything from the rooms
to the pools (1 of 4 pools-we chose the one with the bar!)
to the views (from our balcony)
to the people (our waiter who was proving to me that the water was in fact "bottled"!)

Monday night after we toured around the resort we made our way to grab some dinner at the Mexican restaurant.

You may not believe me, but this was our least favorite place to eat out of the entire restaurant.  We are assuming that we are just used to "Americanized" Mexican food, so for all we know, we could have been eating the best food at the resort according to the locals, but for us, not the best.  Afterwards, we attempted to stay out, but after a long day of traveling we were ready to hit the hay and be refreshed for the next day!

Tuesday we were up bright and early in the morning and headed straight for the beach!
View from our beach chairs was beautiful!
Our seats were right next to the turtle nests...
We eventually made our way up to the pool bar where we met so many people and hung out in the pool the rest of the day...and by the rest of the day I mean we didn't leave the pool until 8:15!  That night we ate at the ocean front grill in need of some serious food in our bellys!
I ordered this amazing stuffed sea bass
and the hubs got a rib eye...both very good and much better than the dinner the night before! After dinner we met back up with some of the gals we had met earlier at the pool...to listen to the band on the pool deck and that my friends is when the trouble began! :)

Tequila! :)

To be continued...

10 years already?!

So we are back from Mexico, in one piece and I'm trying to regain some sense of normalcy but its been a long tough week! I'm going to attempt to catch up on everything that has been happening in our lives in the next few posts, so beware!

First off, the Saturday before we left for Mexico (July 16th) I had my 10 year high school reunion from Hewitt Trussville High School-Go Huskies! It was held at B& A Warehouse in downtown B'ham and as many of you know I had some serious reservations about going at all, but majority ruled (actually my mom ruled) and I decided to give a go.

While it was nice to see some people I truly haven't seen since we graduated, even with the social media outlets of today, it was confirmed to me that I most assuredly did not leave anything behind.  Some people changed for the better and others should have reconsidered coming all together and others...well-yikes!  We made an appearance, had a few cocktails and before you know it were ready to get out of there b/c that meant we were one step closer to getting to Mexico!

My handsome date
One of my girls, Cheryl and I-still trouble 10 years later! :)

More posts to come...who knows, I may do more than one today depending on how my work day goes! :)

Just checking in

I'm here!
I have tried several times this week to start a post a every time I would have to go do something else.  This post will be pictureless since I just unloaded all of my pics off of my camera last night and it apparently deletes them off of my camera...anyone know how to keep it from doing that? Anyways, this will be a random post b/c that is the equivalent to my life this past week, random!

-I have been crazy busy b/c I have been getting ready to be off of work for a week b/c we are leaving for Mexico Monday! I can't begin to tell you how excited we are to have this vacay away and to spend some quality time with each other. I feel like lately we have been so busy with so much that as stupid as it sounds, I miss him.  Yes, we live togehter, sleep together, eat together, btu I feel like that has just been part of our routine and I want some good quality alone time with him.  We are also very excited about going  somewhere new and different that we have never been.  Wish us luck and you know there will be plenty of posts about it when we get back! :)

-I have my 10 year reunion tomorrow night...I have been battling on whether or not to go and I think I am going to go...it may turn out to be a bomb, but I'll never know until I go, right?  Wish me luck that I don't  stab anyone! (I think a few of you know who I am referring to!) :)

-Today is the last day that the hubs will work in the Network Underground where he has worked for the last 4 years.  He will start his new position on the line crew the Monday after we get back from Mexico and his schedule will now be Monday-Thursday instead of Tuesday-Thursday and he will be in the office in Trussville, about 20 minutes from our house.  He is very nervous about starting new and learning a completely new field, but I know he will be great! Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers come the 25th!

-Speaking of the 25th, our 3 year anniversary is coming up and I still can't believe that it has been 3 years since I became the luckiest girl in the world! Time sure does fly when you're having fun!

-I don't want to jinx us or anything, but we have some good news to report-Wrigley has been out of his crate now for 2 solid weeks! Yep, we are trying to get rid of that ginormous cage and reclaim our office and so far, he has done wonderful!  He has however decided that since we have closed him off from our room during the day that he will just take over the spare bedroom bed and make it his own little playground.  He apparently sleeps and plays there all day while we are gone b/c the pillows are always knocked off of the bed and there are toys everywhere! Pray that he continues to do great and we can get rid of the crate all together!

Well hope everyone has a wonderful week! Until then...
Pray that we have good weather and a great time...I'm sure we will! :)

Sissy Feet

So after a long day at the pool, swimming, entertaining and lounging in front of the fan with his Nana on the 4th, we discovered that our Wrigley man has a serious case of sissy feet!

He is not used to being on the concrete for long periods of time and as a result, his poor little footsies are scraped raw..like bleeding on our carpet kind of raw.  We have had to put bandages on them the last few days and he is def working the pity card for sure!

He's such a pud but we love him! :)

Did I mention I'm married to an apprentice?

Wow, there has been so much going on in the last few days and plenty more to come, but I did have to take a minute to brag on my amazing hubby!

As of July 1st, he is offically an apprentice for Alabama Power line crew in Trussville! This something we have been waiting for/fighting for/working towards for almost 4 years now and now it's a reality!  This is not only a huge step up the ladder professionally, but also a huge step financially. He is extremely nervous being in a new department with new people (he has been in network underground since day 1) and starting a completely new line of work, but I know he will do awesome and its a bonus that his new office is less than 20 minutes from our house now.

So congrats Mitchell on the hard work paying off!
I couldn't be more proud of you if I tried!
I love you dearly!

4th of July Tradition

It's been a tradition for the last few years to have a pool party at my parents house and this year was no different-even though we may have had a few issues with getting the pool swimmable, but that's for another day.
Sunday, we kicked started the festivities around noonish laying out, enjoyed some adult beverages, played some intense games of floating beer pong (courtesy of Jay-he always brings a toy), ate more food than we ever thought possible and ended the night with some fireworks! It was a great day!

Maria Maria (Baby Arrington), Stephanie, Phoenix, Alaina, Mere, Ricki, Ang (Baby Burton), Yours truly, Bethany, Jess and Megan
My handsome man
I completely stole this pic form Jess-I realized after downloading that I never got a boys pic
Oh yeah and did I mention, Wrigley got in the pool too-granted it was not totally his idea, but still. He did enjoy it once he got in and was able to stand up in the shallow end.
My bubby and Olive (my parents dog watching fireworks)-funny, we never really think Wrigley looks all that big I guess b/c we are so used to seeing him, but for some reason he looked so big this day! :)
I wish this one would have turned out more clear, but it was a long day and I was not in the mood to mess with all the settings on my camera to get this one right.

Hope everyone had an amazing 4th of July!

Baby Burton-Gender Reveal

I don't know about you, but as much as I love the long holiday weekends, it takes me about a week to get back into the groove of things...I still don't know what day it is!

This past Saturday Matt and Angela hosted a gender reveal party to find out what their little bundle of love will be come Thanksgiving.  Everyone was instructed to wear either blue or pink depending on what you thought Baby Burton was going to be.  The cake was super cute and was how they decided to reveal that the gender.
It's a ......
BOY!
Sad that Team Pink lost, but very happy to have a baby boy in a few months!
Yours Truly (with much shorter hair that I'm still not sure if I'm a fan of yet or not), Maria Maria, Baby Arrington and Jess
Would have been a very cute pic if I hadn't cut off my own neck!

We had so much fun and I can't wait to find out what Baby Burton will be named and actually meet the little guy!
