I wanna drive the pink Cadillac!

I am a huge fan of pedicures and, thanks to our honeymoon, massages too, but have never been one of those chicks that lives at the spa, so when Jess invited me to get a free facial, I jumped at the chance! :)

One of her friends from grad school works for Mary Kay Cosmetics(hence the name of this post if you didn't get it) and had a goal number of facials she needed to do before the end of the month, so we we took one for the team and happily obliged. :)
We made tacos, drank wine (Do you notice a pattern with our girlfriends-everything revolves around drinking wine and eating?! hhmm) and got started.

We were instructed to do one side of our face at a time so that we could compare...nice thought, but we looked ridiculous for most of the evening!
I think Jess was having way too much fun with her facial...at one point she looked like that kid at the beach with entirely too much sunscreen on! :)
Erica, Phoenix, Jess, Maria, Bethany, Grelier, Mere and Yours Truly-halfway through our transformations
I didn't take anymore photos after this stage b/c we were all makeup-less and greased up from all of the prodcut and I'm not sure we would be winning any friends or influencing any people with those shots. :)

It was a lots of fun and a good little midweek breather!

Welcome Home, Mary (temporarily)

One of our dear sweet friends Mary moved to Tulsa, OK last year for work and has been busy traveling all over the country ever since. But we were lucky enough this past weekend to spend some time with her during her brief visit home.

Saturday night we met at Munoz (our fav Mexican restaurant) to celebrate her home coming followed by a little block party at Cajun Steamer in Trussville.  That was interesting to say the least but still fun and I am so glad that we got to hang out with Mary, even if it was for just a little bit.  :)

Welcome Home/Happy Birthday Mary!
Not the best picture in the world and I'm not even going to attempt to name everyone, but you get the idea

I didn't catch the name of the band that was playing at the Cajun Steamer Block party, but they really were very entertaining and played a little bit of everything.

Mere really wanted her picture taken
there, that's better :)
Yours Truly and Mary

We had so much fun and can't wait till she moves back home and brings this new mommy (congrats Tiff, Keith and Sawyer on your new little bundle of love, Graham-I can't wait to meet him!) back home with her!

Wednesday Randoms

Yes, I know, 2 posts in one day, what?! Craziness!
I am trying to regain some of my 3 followers back who apparently are bored.to.tears over my recent lack of everyday entertainment blog posts hhhuumm, Phoenix, so I thought I would be random and see hwo it works...

-I want to wish a huge CONGRATS to my girl Tiff on the birth of her second baby boy, Graham on Monday! He was 6 lbs 12 oz with a head full of dark hair and absolutely adorable! I also think she deserves an award for not only having him, but having an 18 month old at home as well...my prayers are with you! :)

-Sunday I got in one of those organizing moods that leaves no drawer un-turned and found some pretty interesting things...

Apparently I have inherited some of parents hoarding tendencies...when it comes to coozes, I feel like you can never have enough?!?
I also found $330 which is awesome and very tempting to use, but will go in safe keeping for a rainy day instead.

-As you will see in another post (that I already have ready to go for later this week Phoenix) we attended a Block Party at the Cajun Steamer in Trussville this past weekend.  While the band was entertaining and the beers were flowing nicely, the fashion statements that were being made, left me wondering if I had stepped into another decade...

**please note these pictures are not the best quality as I was trying to be as discrete as possible so the hubs wouldn't see me-he hates it when I take pictures of people I dont' know**
Exhibit A)
Is a crochet "dress" really what you thought you needed to finish off this outfit or was it your "stage" shoes?!

Exhibit B)

How many times do we need to tell these moms to stop stealing their 13 year old daughters clothes?!
and please notice the silver prom kitten heels to top off the entire outfit..just saying
Exhibit C)

I know her mother is proud

-I have heard so much about this Pinterest thing and am frustrated b/c I can't seem to get an invite to go through, so if you are cool enough to be part of this new phenomenon, send a sista an invite...I need something else to do at work after I finish reading The Help! :)

I hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

Chow Down Around Town-Ore

So unfortunately I have missed the last 2 Chow Down's, one for some reason that I have completely forgotten about now and the other because I was busy shooting tequila spending quality time with the hubs and stuffing my face in Mexico.  So last Thursday I got back in the groove and met these beautiful ladies over at Ore for some food, wine and girl chat.

Ore is located in Mountain Brook, Al and is former American Idol winner Taylor Hicks' restaurant.  The food was really yummy and the service was great.  Our waiter was very patient with all of us and our 20 questions too.  Plus, any restaurant that has Deviled Eggs on their menu is A-OK in my book.  (they were so good!)

Grelier, Jess and Mere
Maria, Yours Truly, Ang, and Ansley

This was our first anniversary of Chow Down Around Town and we had so much fun going around discussing our favorite Chow Down experiences and planning our new adventures for this upcoming year!  So much has changed since our first Chow Down-1 baby conceived and born (Carson), 2 others pregnant (that we know of :)), an engagement and many new members have joined as well.  Looking forward to many more ladies!

Ways to know you are getting old (in case you needed a reminder)

I recently came across this list of 25 ways to determine if you are getting old (or are already there) and sadly, there are more on this list that relate to me (or the hubs) than I would like...

1)You fall asleep in front of the TV-absolutely

2)You wake up feeling stiff-the hubs definitely and me sometimes, depending on if I have been motivated enough to exert some sort of energy

3)You groan when you bend down-not so much, yet

4)You're shocked by sexual music videos-do they still even make music videos?  I couldn't begin to tell you the last music video I saw...I used to live by TRL (Total Request Live with Carson Daly) on MTV and now the coolest thign on MTV is kids having babies...I'll spare you my soapbox on that topic for another day!

5)You hate noisy bars and restaurants-totally the hubs...he gets angry if he is in a bar with cigarette smoke

6)You think teachers, cops and doctors look really young-not there yet

7) You grow more ear and nose hair-thank God neither of us are here and hope we never are

8) You struggle to use technology-I think this one is pretty obvious that this is a struggle for me...exhibit A-this blog...pictures without edits-nuff said

9) You forget people's names-I would say the hubs is guilty of this bc he apparently just tunes that part of the initial greeting out completely

10) You don't know any of the top 10 songs on the radio-I usually know the songs on the radio but I struggle with the names of some of the bands on those award shows...they will be nominated for Song of the Year and I have never heard of the band or the song!

11) You choose clothes and shoes for comfort, not style-still all about the style aspect, but I will def sport my flippy floppies if appropriate :)

12) You start driving slower-if you know me and my driving at all, you should knwo the answer to this one :)

13) Your tastes change and you "like" older drinks, like sherry-wine is an "older"drink

14) You complain more- Actually I am trying to tame my attitude a bit in my older age

15) You misplace things more often-never been a huge issue for me, hopefully never will be

16) You think your co-workers keep getting younger-I don't think they are getting younger, but there is one that dresses like her 12 year old daughter...I'm not sure she is aware that shirts do come in a medium or even a large...even though times are tough, not necessary to wear your daughter's clothes

17) You take mid-afternoon naps-I have tried for years to convince our bosses to let us have "nap time" in the spare office, but for some reason they won't allow it...

18) You complain about all of the garbage on TV these days-totally guilty of this-I am blown away weekly with some of the new reality shows they come up with-->can we say Strange Addiction

19) Your ears get bigger-do peoples ears actually grow as you get older?  Never heard of this one

20) You like going for a nice Sunday walk-I love to take Wrigley for walks everyday...it's good for both of us, but the hubs is not into it so much

21) You're losing your hair-the hubs is going gray pretty quickly-also why is it that men who go gray look "distinguished" and women just look "haggard"?!

22) You go on vacation to a place that doesn't allow kids-this was the #1 criteria for searching for our recent vacay to Mexico, but we "compromised" the kids for the "all inlcusive" alcohol 24/7!

23) You develop and interest in gardening-the hubs is obsessed with redoing our yard and making it look like a model home in the last few months...I gave up the day we moved in

24) You like being carded for alcohol-I really get excited when they ask for my ID

25) You know your alcohol limit, and cut yourself off-The only reason I cut myself off is because I am about to go to sleep...there is a fine line between Yours Truly being a fun, lively drunk and falling asleep standing up! :)

So, how old do you feel?
I feel like I still have a fighting chance for a few more years...but for some of you, this was your wake up call...you're welcome! :)

At a red light in the sunshine on a Sunday

As I was going through my pictures, I realized that I still had not posted about the David Nail concert I went to while the hubs was on his golf trip.

Mere (my date for the evening) and I met up with
 Pat and Autumn
Ashley and Austin

and Julie and Will
at Momma G's for a little grub and a few brewski's before making our way to Cafe Firenze to see David Nail perform.
Before now, I had no idea who he was (I was just along for the ride), but later learned that I actually knew 2 of his songs and after the concert am a huge fan! He is so fun and not bad to look at either.  We had a great time and I'm so glad that I went.

As you can tell the hair went up quickly-it was miserably hot...not sure Cafe Firenze believes in circulating air or fans...
Our bodyguards for the evening :)

No trash for you

Well as some of you are aware (as seen in the previous post from last week) Wrigley is back in solitary for a while. Sad day.  He has apparently decided that he really enjoys the taste of paper-note pads, Mitch's benefits packet, Mitch's union book for work, newborn pictures of our nephew hanging from the fridge, calendars and now apparently he is a trash dog too!

We shimmied our way up to our long-lost friends/neighbors Matt and Jess' house this past Friday night for some grillin' out and wine talk and decided to give Wrigley man another try to redeem himself since we were only a few seconds from the house.  Well, he had a craving for some trash for the thousandth time-some of it we still don't know what he chewed up.
We had had it, so we went on a mission to find a trash can that a Great Dane can't get in to and guess what, we did!

We present you with the Wrigley-proof trash can...

I know, nothing to write home about but what you don't see is this

While we are on the subject of Great Danes, here is a precious video of a Great Dane greeting his master after being overseas for 9 months-makes my heart melt to see how happy that little guy is to see him! :)

(Sorry I'm technically challenged and can't get this video to pull up, so the link will have to do until I can fix it)

No excuses

Contrary to popular belief, I have not fallen off of the face of the earth...just the blog world...again.

Work for me is crazy right now to say the very least...we are building a new accounting system (fun stuff) and are expected to "go live" September 1st and I can't even begin to tell you all of the work that still needs to be done.

The hubs has been working his cute little booty off this past week thanks to the storms and lightning strikes in the Trussville area.  Although the paycheck will be worthwhile with all of the overtime, it has not been easy not having him around.  Matter of fact, last night was the first night this week he has been home before 1:00AM!
Please pray that we will all (Wrigley included-he is terribly thrown off by these changes) get used to this new way of life and learn to make it work best for our little family.  :)

I will be back later with a much more intresting post and if you're lucky, maybe even some pictures. For now, enjoy this picture of one of the loves of my life...

Living with Wrigley-Irony

So as many of you are aware, Wrigley has had some "tummy issues" since day one and finally after almost 2 years we were able to get a diagnosis-he has inflammed bowel disease.  I know, sounds like fun, huh? :)  Anyways, we started him on medicine in April and per the docs orders decided to start charting his "movements" to see if we noticed any sort of pattern and to make sure it was working properly.

So now that you have a little bit of back story...
Wrigley has been out of his crate for about a month now and has done really well, with the exception of a few run-ins with the trash can, until Friday night...he decided to tell us what he really thinks of us charting his "movements" ...
and apparently the pen pissed him off as well...

Yes you are seeing that correctly, not 1 piece of paper left...he ate every single piece in the calendar! Needless to say his "movements" have been quite regular for the last few days! :)

3 Years!

This past Monday (July 25th) the hubs and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary!
I can't believe it has already been 3 years since I became Mrs. Mitch Thompson and our wonderful journey together as husband and wife began.
Life has truly been a blast and I look forward to many many more years with this wonderful man!

Mitch-
I love you more everyday and am so thankful for your patience, sense of humor and unending love you give me on a daily basis.  I can only hope that you are as happy with me as I am with you! :0
To many more happy ones!

I love you bunches!

Viva La Mexico-Part Dos

So I'm back with the final installment of our trip.  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
(More on mine in another post.)

So our Wednesday was spent just like all the rest of the days-at the pool bar hanging out with our crew of folks we met throughout the week.  We enjoyed the mojitos and some of the poolside games, including a beer chugging contest in which the hubs took part in...
he didn't win, but he made me and AU proud!
That night we decided to "flash mob" the hibachi grill with all of our new found friends-all 13 of us! It was by far the best food at the resort! Yum!
Ready for the "white party" :)
Ready for dinner!
Part of our "flash mob"-Bob, Christina, Yours Truly, the hubs and Jeffery

After dinner, we hung out at the cabana's on the pool deck at the "white party" and listen to music and watched all the younger folks act a fool.  There may have also been some salsa lessons in there somewhere too!

Thursday during the day was the same as the rest of the week-pool bar, etc...the boys did get a little rowdy with the football (more alcohol=not so good aim) but they all had fun. :)

That night we went to dinner with the grown ups-it felt kind of weird since we are always known as the "kids", but was so much fun and we really go to know so much about our new friends!  We went to the Italian place our last night and it was also delish!
We look like lobsters, but it was our last day so who cares....
Yours Truly and my Colombian girls!

Our last night ended the same way all of the others did-late night/early morning at the sports bar with all of our friends after the pool party shut down with more tequila than I ever wanted, lots of dancing and plenty of memories! :)

We truly had so much fun with each and every one of the people we met.  We went into this vacation slightly hesitant about going to a family resort as opposed to an adults only resort and ironically the families are who ended up making our vacation so memorable!

As we landed back in Miami this was greeting us outside of our plane-a double rainbow!

I think it was telling us "Welcome Home" and was the perfect way to end a wonderful vacation with the love of my life!
