Finally I'm back!
No, I have not fallen off the face of the earth nor have I forgotten that I have a blog that my 4 readers live for, it was simply a combination of laziness, Blogger screwing up and the underwhelming need to please my boss by actually doing some work as opposed to blogging, surfing the internet for vacation destinations and keeping up with the latest celebrity gossip, after being off work for the last few days! <--longest run-on sentence ever!
So, last weekend we had our first annual girls beach trip with some of our nearest and dearest girlfriends (some who couldn't make it were dearly missed) in Destin, Fl. We stayed at Maria's cousin's house in Baytown in San Destin which was unbelievable!
We arrived late Thursday night and hit the sack so that we would be well rested for beach first thing in the morning. We spent pretty much the entire day at the beach roasting laying out. The water was the most beautiful that I have ever seen it...crystal clear blue and the waves were not bad at all. The water was still a bit chilly but you got used to it after a few minutes, although it was hard to find potty buddies to get in the water with me! :)

Friday night we made our way to Baytowne Wharf for some grub...we ate at Poppy's Hammerheads. The food was pretty good-Phoenix and I of course spilt a burger as always and were not disappointed at all...delish! They had a band playing that was pretty good and the cutest little boy ever that was bustin' a move all night.

"lobster face" and the mommies!
Hanging out at the diner that sold $1.50 beers...btw sodas were $2.00...hhmmm
After stuffing our faces, we went to Rum Runners, a dueling piano bar also in Baytowne Wharf, for some dancing. We also went to another bar that I don't know the name of and basically shut down Baytowne that night like we were 21 again dancing the night away...Saturday hurt. :)
Saturday was much more relaxed on the beach as we had a few girls not feeling the best in the world since we all came to the realization that we are all in fact 30 and not 21 like we thought that we were the previous evening! :)
Saturday night we went to the famous
Red Bar for dinner. The wait was pretty long, but I felt was well worth it for the food and atmosphere. When the waiter came to take our order we were all talking and not really paying too much attention to him thinking that he was giving us the list for the specials only to realize that he was explaining the menu which consisted of 5 items! Oops!
Twinkies!
All dolled up!
We made a brave attempt at going back out like rockstars again like we had done Friday night, but sadly were in bed by 11:30! We're so old and boring...one night out and we were dones-o!
We had an amazing trip and I am so excited to know that we will hopefully keep this tradition alive for years to come...just like the group of women that we met at Red Bar who were on their annual girls beach trip they have been taking for 15 years!
