Sweet Dreams

Wrigley is almost a year and a half now and even though that is not technically a puppy, he still plays like one and definitely sleeps like one too!  Here is a video that Mitch took of Wrigley sleeping the other day on the sofa.  Apparently he was having a really good puppy dream b/c as you can see he is dead asleep but his tail is wagging like crazy!  So sweet!

 Love him! :)

Weekend Recap

This past weekend we decided to lay kind of low and not do a whole lot...last weekend in AU really wore us out!  Friday night the hubs and I just went to dinner and came home to sit on the couch...perfect Friday night date night!

Saturday I went to get a much needed hair cut and color. (you'll see!) Mitch picked me up and we went straight over to our friends Bethany and Jeremy's (Miller) house to watch the Alabama game.  They live in the cutest little house in Homewood and I seriously could have just moved right on in. It was decorated so cute and Bethany has done an amazing job!  They are such a cute couple that I really wouldn't expect anything less to be honest! :)

Alabama barely pulled one through and even though they did actually win, it was good to see them struggle a little bit-it's healthy for 'em! :)  Our Auburn Tigers also pulled out a win...35-27 against South Carolina and one things for sure-no one can say that we haven't kept our fans on their toes this year with these close games...very entertaining! War Eagle!

(I told you I got my hair did! Needed a change)
Love him! :)
The boys started to get crazy during the Auburn game...
OJ doing the cha-cha....
Mitch doing some lunges...
Matt droppin' it liek it's hot!
Me and the beautiful hostess!
One happy man! War Eagle!
Auburn girls! :)

Sunday we literally laid on the sofa all.day.long and it was great!  Best day we have had in a long time!  Hope everyone else had a fab weekend!

"Chow Down Around Town"-Chuy's

Our second adventure around the city of Birmingham was at Chuy's,  a Tex-Mex place located at the Summit that overlooks all of 280-beautiful view! We sat on the patio and enjoyed some delicious Mango/Strawberry swirl margaritas and some much needed girl time.  The food has apparently gotten rave reviews and is supposedly some of the best around...I beg to differ.  While it is good food, it is def not the best Mexican I have ever had.  It is just fair but the atmosphere is what really sells this place in my book.  The restaurant itself is great and like I said the views from the patio area are breath-taking!

The whole crew-yours truly, Mere, Jess, Maria, Ashley, Ang, Mel, Erica, Phoenix, Bethany and Mary
Pictures around the table...

On a side note, this message is for any woman over the age of 40...better yet any woman period...

****Mid drifts, tummy shirts, belly shirts whatever you wish to call them are OUT! There is a reason that they are no longer in fashion and there is a reason that when they were in fashion they were located in the Juniors department-that's because 40+ year old women were not intended to wear these.  (Also I want to apologize ahead of time if you happen to be this woman or happen to know her, but if you do, you should let her know that that is inappropriate even though it is excellent material for girls having cocktails on girls night!) You will see why in Exhibit A and B located below...

Exhibit B:

We had so much fun and are counting down till our next adventure wherever it may be!
Love you girls!

Bittersweet Day

Today would have been my Grandmere's 78th birthday.  I named this post bittersweet day b/c obviously she is no longer with us here on earth on her birthday but I am still able to celebrate her life today and remember the wonderful times she was here!
My Grandmere passed away in March of 2009 and it was without a doubt the hardest thing I have ever gone through in my adult life. I was extremely close with her and she meant the world to me.  Not a day goes by that I don't think about her and what she would think about our lives now.

She was the most amazing woman in the world and I can't even begin to explain all of the many blessing she taught me throughout my life with her.  She was an amazing cook (taught me how to carefully measure everything-not!) even though laundry was not her strong suit. :)  She had a heart of gold (maybe too much at times if there is such a thing) and the attitude of a rattlesnake and I truly believe she is where I got my stubborn, strong, take-charge kind of attitude (the hubs will tell you this in a heartbeat)!  Her and my PawPaw showed me what real love is and I can only pray that the hubs and I will have that kind of lifelong love and passion for each other the way that they did...the whole 56 years together!

So on this day I want to celebrate the wonderful, giving and inspiring life that was my Grandmere's!
We miss you so much!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

AUBURN Bound!

Saturday morning the hubs and I headed down to the Plains to watch our Auburn tigers play against the Clemson tigers.  Auburn won in overtime and boy were we lucky!  We didn't exactly play our best game but it was a very exciting game to go to and I am so glad that we did!
After we got to Auburn, we immediately made our way to the tailgate spot to meet up with everyone, especially this girl...
and this little guy too...
It was so wonderful to be able to hang out with her and all of her wonderful family. Tiff-I miss you already! :)  We were also celebrating the engagement of Jon and Sarah (Tiff's bro and soon to be sis in law)-such a sweet couple! Congrats guys!
Here are a few more pics of us tailgating before we went to the game...

me and my girl Haley

Phoenix being a good sport by wearing her AU colors :)
The hubs and one of his besties from way back when-Zaden

The hubs and orange shorts I mean OJ catching a little A/C

Picking up our tickets at will call and headed to the game!
Our seats were as the hubs put it were," There's heaven, the clouds and then our seats"-they really weren't that bad at all though...just a serious hike to get there! :)
I told you we were up there...
We won!
After the game and the ridiculous walk back we hung at the tailgate spot for a while to relax, catch our breathe, and maybe take a few more photos.  This is Brad aka Mitch's twin according to OJ.  Ya think so?
Time to go home...
We had so much fun (as if you couldn't tell by my ridiculous amount of pictures) and were so happy to be able to enjoy Auburn like the old times with good friends-well slightly different now that we are older and there are babies at our tailgate now! :)

Also I want to thank my wonderful parents for puppy sitting Saturday night so that we could go enjoy ourselves...we really appreciate it and so did Wrigley! :) Love ya'll!

Sunday we headed home early so that I could go the Megan's Bridal Tea that afternoon.  I am so sad that I didn't take any pictures but the tea was great.  The decor was so cute and beachy, the food was yum and the wedding punch, well let's just say I could drink a LOT of that stuff!

Hope everyone else had just as great a weekend as we did!
Cheers to a great week! :)

9/17/10

It's Friday....

so I am not going to promise any sort of meaningful discussions or thoughts.  Instead just a few randoms...

Do you ever have days where you refuse to have a bad day no matter what is going on around you?!  Well today is that day for me...for 2 reasons
1) we're going to AU tomorrow
and
2) I am wearing these fab new shoes I just got! I love them!  They are my new favs and I will hopefully get a lot of wear out of them! (still gotta break them in a bit though-I had to bring reinforcements today-flip flops!) :)

(Please excuse the tower of boxes...my cublet is not exactly designed to do self portraits!)

Also on a completely different note...I am pretty sure that taking your toddler to a job fair is probably not going to win you any points with future employers.  Just saying.  I say this b/c as I was walking to my car at lunch today I noticed a woman walking into the job fair that they are having at the conference center (it is attached to my building) with her toddler bouncing around  with her barbie doll in tow!  Not to mention that the woman was dressed for a Saturday night out rather than a job interview but that is a totally different story!
Moral of the story:
Get a babysitter if you are going to a job fair and leave your hoochie-wear for the weekends!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I know we will! :)

I'm a huge...

blog slacker lately!  I know it is too early in my blog game to be slacking already but I have been so busy lately and not with anything worth blogging about.  The hubs has been working all.the.time lately and we really haven't seen each other a whole lot in the last month or so, which throws us off of our normal routine.  Hopefully things are looking up now...
Wrigley man went to the vet last week for his shots and checkup-all is great with him, thankfully!  I know most blogs that people have put an update of their childrens stats each month or so, so I thought I would do the same so that we can look back and remember one day-Wrigley will be 1 year and 4 months old on the 22nd and he weighs 121 lbs and stands approximately 36 inches tall...big boy! I know I'm corny....

This weekend we are going to the Loveliest Village on The Plains on Saturday for the Auburn vs Clemson game and I couldn't be more excited especially because one of my besties Tiff and her beautiful family are coming all the way from OK!   I can't even tell you how excited I am to hang out with all of them and be able to spend some time with them just like the good ole days! :)  Go ahead and prepare yourself for a post or 2 next week highlighting our amazing weekend! :)

Have a great day! :)

Another one bites the dust

So last night was the Auburn vs Mississippi State football game (AU won 17-14)!!!!  Since the hubs has been sick the last couple of days we decided to stay in, cook some breakfast for dinner (love that) and curl up on the couch with Wrigley man and enjoy the game.  It was so entertaining and relaxing and to be quite honest I would prefer to watch almost all of the games this way!  Don't get me wrong , I love the tailgating and football parties but sometimes it is just nice to take it easy with the people (and dog) that mean the most to you! :)

Also, I want to wish my bro in law a happy 31st birthday....HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRAD!  Hope you have a great one old man! :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend.  I am hoping to finish up some projects at the Thompson house that I have been wanting to do for a while now (like maybe painting the livingroom) :)  We'll see....until Monday...

Labor Day Weekend

I hope everyone had a wonderful labor day weekend!  Ours started on Friday night with a birthday celebration for some of our nearest and dearest friends, Matt and Nick! We all met at a pizza place called Mafiosos in Mountain Brook for some delicious pizza and a good time!

Happy Birthday boys, We love you guys!

The whole gang..not the best picture (thanks OJ and Chad) but still...

The old roomies...
Saturday we celebrated the first footballs games of the season over at our friends OJ and Phoenix's house.  Sadly as we were walking out the door, the hubs was called into work and missed most of the game, but I was still able to go hang out for a little while.

Me and my Mere

Holding Lindsay's pregnant belly-so cute!

Sunday was spent laying on the sofa with my 2 favorite boys doing absolutely nothing and it was great.  On Monday a few of the girls met up at Cajun Steamer for lunch on the patio and a few afternoon cocktails since the hubs had to work...again.

It's back to the grind now and hopefully this short week will fly by, especially since the next Auburn game is Thursday!  By the way, Auburn won against Arkansas State 52-26!!!!
